LES is looking for a detail-oriented and highly motivated Accounting Assistant to join our Financial Accounting team! JOB SUMMARY 

Responsible for assisting with a variety of financial accounting functions. This role primarily supports capital asset accounting activities by creating, reviewing, and processing work orders to ensure accuracy, compliance, and proper financial settlement. Other responsibilities include assisting with preparing and analyzing financial and operational reports, maintaining systems and operational data, supporting fixed asset accounting activities, and processing journal entries. The position collaborates with customers, engineers, crews, and other departments to support technical activities, identify process improvement opportunities, and assist with system upgrades, conversions, and data requests.  Consistent and reliable attendance is required. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND COMPETENCIES

  • Reviews, analyzes, and processes work orders to ensure they are complete, accurate, and ready for the closing process.
  • Creates and maintains operational systems related to work order tracking and data compilation. 
  • Assists with preparing, reviewing, analyzing and distributing financial reports including monthly and annual financial and operating statements.
  • Assists with preparing miscellaneous billings.   
  • Prepares and enters journal entries to properly record transactions.
  • Assists in maintaining accounting records related to fixed assets.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES   

  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). 

  • Knowledge of MS Office. 

  • Knowledge of utility operations (preferred). 

  • Knowledge of SAP (preferred). 

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

  • Associate’s degree in related field, and 

  • Three years of related experience, or 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, and 

  • One year of related experience 

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
