We are seeking a high-calibre Director with strong Financial Services (FS) Audit experience to lead and grow our FS Audit practice on the Isle of Man.
Key Responsibilities
As a Director, you will:
Lead and grow the FS Audit practice, taking responsibility for strategy, business development, and delivery of high-quality audits across banking, insurance, funds, and other regulated FS sectors.
Build and manage client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor to Boards, Audit Committees, and Senior Management.
Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of complex audit engagements in line with professional standards (ISA, IFRS, UK GAAP).
Lead, coach, and mentor a high-performing audit team, ensuring development, retention, and succession planning.
Drive business development initiatives, including networking, proposal writing, and presenting to prospective clients.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, risk management, and internal quality standards.
Collaborate across service lines, supporting Advisory, Tax, and other teams on cross-functional opportunities.
Represent Grant Thornton at industry events and with key stakeholders on the Isle of Man and across the network.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will need:
Professional qualification: ACA, ACCA, CA, or equivalent.
Extensive FS audit experience, ideally with exposure to insurance, banking, funds, and/or fiduciary services, preferably gained within a Big 4 or Top 10 firm.
Proven leadership experience, including leading large audit teams and managing a client portfolio.
Deep technical expertise in IFRS, UK GAAP, and ISA.
Strong business development skills, with a track record of winning work and growing client relationships.
Commercial acumen and the ability to think strategically about the FS market.
Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to operate at Board level.
