Role Overview
We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Payables Assistant to join our finance team. This role will support the day-to-day accounts payable function across the group, ensuring supplier invoices are processed accurately and payments are made on time. You will play a key role in maintaining strong supplier relationships and supporting the wider finance operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage supplier accounts, including onboarding new suppliers and maintaining accurate records
- Monitor and manage the accounts payable inbox, responding to queries in a timely and professional manner
- Process supplier invoices, ensuring accuracy and correct coding
- Match invoices to purchase orders and receipts (3-way matching)
- Maintain and manage purchase orders, ensuring they are correctly raised and approved
- Prepare and set up supplier payment runs in line with company schedules
- Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies
- Build strong working relationships both internally and externally
- Ensure compliance with company policies and financial controls
- Assist with month-end processes
- Support audits by providing required documentation and explanations
- Identify and suggest process improvements to increase efficiency within the payables function
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in a finance or accounts payable role is desirable
- Alternatively, an entry-level finance qualification (college or university) with a strong interest in accounting
- Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Good organisational and time management skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (basic to intermediate level)
- Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred but not essential)
