The role - summary

As a Tax Associate working towards a recognised tax qualification, you will be part of a team who provides high quality tax services to a wide range of clients. Our role is to maintain tax compliance as well as advising our clients on their tax obligations, helping them to stay up to date with the latest developments and to arrange and manage their affairs in a tax efficient manner.

Our work includes the provision of advice to our clients regarding their tax status as well as providing tax compliance services (i.e. preparing and submitting periodic tax returns).

From day one you will be exposed to all aspects of the work we do and will have direct exposure to our clients.

As an Associate, you'll work as part of a team of problem solvers, helping to solve complex business issues from strategy to execution.

Responsibilities for this level include but are not limited to:

  • Draft IOM personal tax returns 

  • Draft IOM corporate tax returns

  • Draft UK personal tax returns 

  • Draft UK corporate tax returns

  • Draft IOM and UK VAT returns

  • Work towards an understanding of UK corporate tax returns and offshore fund reporting.

  • Liaise with HMRC and ITD in relation to enquiries.

  • Deal with incoming post, updating clients and recording on team workflow.

  • Drafting emails, letters and tax related correspondence.

  • To provide support in relation to technical research on specific matters.

  • Communicate with clients requesting information or providing updates.

  • Draft application forms to be submitted to ITD or HMRC.

  • Liaise with internal teams to assist with the client onboarding process.

  • Update internal reporting systems in relation to client deliverables.

  • Staying abreast of tax developments via internal and external sources.

  • Other ad hoc administrative tasks to support the team.

The individual we are looking for should have:

  • a strong academic background and be studying towards a recognised tax qualification;

  • excellent communication skills (both verbal and written);

  • an assertive and confident approach in asking questions to learn complex technical information processes;

  • the ability to work independently but also thrive in a team; and

  • a desire to develop their career. 

The successful candidate will already have some tax related experience and workplace experience in a different environment.

Tax Training Contract

This is a formal student training contract with PwC and the successful candidate will receive support to study for and sit professional examinations, leading to the Association of Tax Technicians (ATT) qualification. Study support may then be available to progress to the Chartered Tax Advisor qualification at a later date.  You will get fully funded financial and study support from PwC to enable you to successfully achieve a tax qualification.
