At Lincoln Electric System, our Tool Room/Material Handlers play an important role in supporting the crews and operations that keep electricity flowing safely and reliably throughout the community. This hands-on position is responsible for receiving, organizing, maintaining, testing, and distributing tools, materials, and equipment used across utility operations. Team members assist with inventory management, equipment calibration, deliveries to job sites, preventative maintenance, and safe warehouse operations while working closely with internal customers and field crews. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND COMPETENCIES

Under general supervision, performs storeroom and toolroom functions, including the receipt, storage, issuance, maintenance, testing, and tracking of materials, tools, equipment, and specialized utility devices. This role supports electric utility operations by ensuring materials and tools are available, compliant, calibrated, and maintained to industry and company standards. Responsibilities include shipping and receiving, inventory control, preventive maintenance, calibration, testing, repair, documentation, customer support, and safe operation of equipment. Performs emergency and overtime work as required. Consistent and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position. 

 

  • Communicates and coordinates directly with internal and external customers using face-to-face interactions, phone, email, and other communication tools.  
  • Under general supervision, maintains inventory of materials, tools, equipment, and repair parts, including cycle counting, documentation, bin locations, reorder points, and inventory accuracy.  
  • Under general supervision, operates power and material handling equipment safely, including forklifts, parts pickers, pole loaders, pallet jacks, hand trucks, cranes, and hoists.
  • Understanding load weights and verifies lifting capacity to prevent overloads while following all safety procedures.  
  • Under general supervision, performs preventative maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, adjustment, repairs, and condition assessments on tools and equipment, documenting all work performed.  
  • Under general supervision, prepares and completes documentation for issuing and returning materials and tools, work orders, receiving reports, sales tickets, maintenance records, and other documents as necessary.
  • Under general supervision, receives, stores, and prepares hazardous materials for proper handling and disposal in strict compliance with policies and regulations.
  • Under general supervision, delivers materials, tools, and equipment to job sites as requested to prevent work stoppages and support field operations.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED 

  • Working knowledge of warehouse and toolroom operations, including material handling, inventory control, and equipment maintenance practices.  
  • Ability to safely operate material handling and shop equipment such as forklifts, parts pickers, pallet jacks, cranes, hoists, and related tools, or the ability to obtain required certifications.  
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow written procedures, safety rules, work instructions, and technical documentation.  
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills related to utility tools, equipment, and devices.  

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

  • High school diploma or GED required.  

  • At least two years of experience in a storeroom, warehouse, toolroom, maintenance, or utility related environment preferred.  

  • Experience working with inventory systems, work orders, or maintenance documentation preferred. 

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.  

  • Experience maintaining, repairing, calibrating, or testing tools and equipment is preferred; training will be provided as applicable. 

 

REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS 

  • Valid driver’s license and required certifications (such as forklift operation, equipment operation, or specialized testing) must be obtained and maintained as part of the position, with training provided by the employer.
